Exactech, a medical device company, has issued an urgent recall for many of Exactech knee and ankle replacements manufactured since 2004.
Who Is Affected by the Exactech Knee, Ankle, and Hip Insert Recall?
- Have you or a loved one had a total knee replacement (TKR), total ankle replacement (TAR), or total hip replacement (THR) with Exactech?
- Did you know that several of these medical devices have been recalled due to a faulty insert since 2004?
- Have you received notification from your surgeon that you have a recalled knee, ankle, or hip implant?
The recalled Exactech devices were produced with a “non-conforming” vacuum bag that didn’t have the technology to survive as long as it should have.
As a result, patients who have had their Exactech knee or ankle replacements recalled are at risk of premature wear on the plastic components of their medical devices, bone loss, and perhaps needing revision surgery.
In addition, Exactech announced a recall of specific kinds of hip implant liners in the summer of 2021.
Patients of Exactech Knee, Ankle, and Hip Replacements
Since 2004, hundreds of thousands of Exactech knee, ankle, and hip replacements have been implanted in patients. Patients who had their Exactech knee, ankle, or hip devices recalled may be entitled to file a legal claim for reimbursement if they suffered injuries, premature wear, or needed surgery to correct faults with their devices.
