One Moment. That’s All It Takes on East Texas Road.

You weren’t expecting it. Nobody ever is. One second, you’re driving down I-30 or cruising through town, and the next — your airbags have deployed, your hands are shaking, and you’re standing on the side of the road trying to figure out what just happened to your life.

Medical bills start arriving before the bruises even fade. Your car is totaled. And then your phone rings — an insurance adjuster on the other end, sounding helpful, asking questions. Here’s what that adjuster isn’t telling you: their entire job is to pay you as little as possible, and everything you say is being used toward that goal.

If you were hurt in a car wreck anywhere in East Texas — Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Greenville, Paris, Mount Pleasant, Tyler, or anywhere in between — you need an attorney in your corner before you say another word to that insurance company.

Call McKay Law TX at (903) INJURED (465-8733). Today, Don’t wait till tomorrow.

The Clock Is Already Running

Texas law gives you two years from the date of your accident to file a personal injury lawsuit. That’s it. Miss that window — even by a single day — and it doesn’t matter how serious your injuries are or how clearly the other driver was at fault. You permanently lose your right to compensation.

Two years may sound like a long time until you’re managing surgeries, physical therapy, missed work, and everything else that comes with recovering from a serious car accident. Cases get harder to build the longer you wait. Evidence disappears. Witnesses forget. The sooner McKay Law gets involved, the stronger your case.

(Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code § 16.003)

Why Trying to Handle This Yourself Is a Costly Mistake

Most people who’ve never been in a serious accident don’t realize what they’re walking into when they deal with an insurance company alone. Insurance adjusters aren’t bad people — but they are trained professionals whose job performance is measured by how much money they save the company. They know the tricks. You don’t. That’s not criticism; it’s just reality.

They’ll call quickly — often within 24 to 48 hours — while you’re still in pain, still confused, still processing what happened. They’ll sound reasonable. They might even seem like they’re on your side. And then they’ll ask you to give a recorded statement, or they’ll make an offer that sounds like a lot of money — but it’s a fraction of what your case is actually worth.

The worst part? Once you accept a settlement, that’s it. You can’t go back later when you find out your back injury requires surgery, or when the headaches turn out to be something more serious.

Lindsey McKay and the team at McKay Law TX have spent over 13 years going up against insurance companies for East Texas families. They’ve recovered millions of dollars for people who were told their case “wasn’t worth much.” They know what your claim is really worth — and they fight until they get it.

What McKay Law Actually Does for You

From the moment you call, McKay Law takes over so you don’t have to manage any of this alone. That means:

They investigate fast. McKay Law has a 24/7 Rapid Response Investigation Team — something you won’t find at most firms — that can get to the accident scene immediately. Skid marks fade. Security footage gets overwritten. Black box data has a shelf life. The team moves quickly to preserve the evidence that wins cases before it’s gone.

You never talk to an adjuster alone. All insurance communication goes through McKay Law. Period.

They figure out what your case is actually worth. Not just your current medical bills — your future medical needs, what the injury means for your earning capacity over the next 20 years, the pain you’ve dealt with, the life events you’ve missed. These numbers add up in ways most people underestimate.

They find you a doctor if you need one. No health insurance? That doesn’t mean you go without treatment. McKay Law works with a network of qualified providers who treat on a medical lien — meaning you don’t pay until your case resolves.

They go to court when they need to. Most cases settle. But when insurance companies refuse to be reasonable, McKay Law goes to trial. Lindsey McKay’s $6 million wrongful death verdict in a truck accident case is proof they’re not bluffing.

⚠️ $6,000,000 Verdict — Wrongful Death, Truck Accident

When a family lost a loved one in a commercial truck accident, they came to McKay Law. Lindsey took the case to trial and won $6 million. That’s what “Texas Tough” looks like in a Hopkins County courtroom.

What to Do Right After a Wreck in East Texas

The things you do in the first hours and days after an accident matter more than most people realize. Here’s how to protect yourself:

Get medical attention, even if you feel okay. Whiplash, traumatic brain injuries, and internal bleeding don’t always announce themselves right away. A doctor’s visit creates a medical record tied closely in time to your accident — and that record matters enormously when you’re trying to prove your injuries were caused by the crash.

Call 911 and get a police report. Don’t leave the scene without making sure law enforcement files a CR-3 crash report. Request a copy for your records.

Document everything you can. Take photos of all vehicles, the road conditions, any visible damage, skid marks, traffic signals — all of it. Get names and insurance information from every driver and any witnesses standing nearby.

Don’t give a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurance. This one is critical. You’re not required to, and you shouldn’t. Even saying “I’m okay” or “I didn’t see them coming” can be twisted later. Politely decline and call McKay Law instead.

Call (903) 465-8733 before you say anything else. McKay Law will take over from there — at no cost to you unless they win your case.

Keep every appointment. Follow your doctor’s treatment plan exactly. Gaps in treatment — skipped appointments, ignored prescriptions — are one of the first things insurance companies use to argue that your injuries weren’t that serious.

The Types of Cases McKay Law Handles

East Texas roads produce every kind of accident imaginable, and McKay Law handles them all.

Rear-end collisions are the most common wreck on the road. They’re often dismissed as “minor” even when they produce real injuries — and insurance companies love to argue shared fault. McKay Law pushes back.

Head-on crashes and T-bone accidents are among the most devastating. The injuries are often catastrophic. These cases need immediate legal action and expert medical testimony. McKay Law has both.

Drunk driving cases are personal. When someone chooses to get behind the wheel impaired and hurt you, the law allows for punitive damages on top of standard compensation. McKay Law has handled DUI accident cases throughout Hopkins County and beyond.

Uninsured and underinsured motorist claims are more common in Texas than most people expect. If the driver who hit you doesn’t have adequate insurance — or any at all — McKay Law will find every available source of recovery, including your own UM/UIM coverage.

18-wheeler and commercial truck accidents are a different animal legally. Federal FMCSA regulations, multiple potential defendants, trucking company liability — these cases require a law firm that knows what they’re doing. McKay Law has won millions in truck cases across East Texas.

Distracted and texting-while-driving accidents leave a digital trail — phone records, GPS data, app activity. McKay Law knows how to subpoena and use that evidence effectively.

Texas Fault Law — What Hopkins County Victims Need to Know

Texas uses what’s called a modified comparative fault system. In plain terms, as long as you’re 50% or less responsible for the accident, you can still recover compensation. But your recovery is reduced by the percentage of fault assigned to you. If you’re found 51% at fault or more, you recover nothing.

This is exactly why insurance companies spend so much energy trying to blame you — even partially. Every percentage point of fault they pin on you is money they don’t have to pay. McKay Law’s job is to prove the other driver’s negligence clearly and keep your fault percentage as low as possible.

(Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code § 33.001)

What Your Case Could Be Worth

There’s no honest way to give you a number without knowing the details of your situation — anyone who tells you otherwise isn’t being straight with you. What McKay Law can tell you is that they pursue every category of compensation the law allows.

That starts with the financial realities: every medical bill from the ER through your last physical therapy appointment, any future treatment your doctors say you’ll need, wages you lost while recovering, and what the injury means for your ability to earn a living going forward. Vehicle damage. Out-of-pocket expenses you may not have even thought to track.

But it doesn’t stop there. Pain and suffering is real compensation in Texas. So is mental anguish — the anxiety, the PTSD, the way a serious accident can change how you feel about getting back in a car. Loss of consortium covers the impact on your marriage and family. Permanent scarring or disfigurement. The hobbies and activities you can no longer do. These aren’t soft categories — they’re recognized damages under Texas law.

In cases involving gross negligence, like drunk driving, punitive damages may also be available.

Two recent examples from McKay Law’s actual caseload:

A grandfather from Sulphur Springs was facing $180,000 in medical bills after being hit by an underinsured driver. By strategically pursuing multiple insurance sources, McKay Law recovered $425,000 for him.

A mother from Paris had permanent neck injuries after a commercial truck accident. The trucking company’s experts tried to minimize her condition. McKay Law’s medical team countered them, and she walked away with $520,000.

The Roads We Know Better Than Anyone

McKay Law’s attorneys don’t just practice in East Texas — they live here. When a client says “it happened at that bad curve on Highway 11, near the dairy farm,” Lindsey knows exactly where that is.

Interstate 30 through Sulphur Springs carries some of the heaviest commercial truck traffic in the region. High speeds, frequent lane changes, distracted drivers — it’s consistently one of the most dangerous stretches of road in Hopkins County.

US Highway 67, Greenville to Sulphur Springs — rural curves, low lighting, fast speed limits, and deer at dawn and dusk. McKay Law has handled many cases in this corridor.

State Highway 11 in Hopkins County is known locally for its sight-line problems and sharp curves. It produces accidents at a rate that locals understand but outsiders miss.

Loop 286 around Paris sees heavy local commercial traffic and frequent wrecks throughout Lamar County.

These aren’t just names on a map to McKay Law. These are the roads they drive, the roads where their clients got hurt, the roads where they’ve gone to collect evidence.
